Deuteronomy 31:8 is a verse my parents gave me when I graduated in college, something they have prayed over me as they send me out into the world. Even though this is one of the most uncertain times in my life, God keeps overwhelming me with His blessings and His kindness.
Sunday afternoon, those in the Memphis/ Covington area whom I am closest to gathered for a time of fellowship and prayer. I somehow had thought that ALL my close relationships (other than family) were in Birmingham. But, as I looked around, I was overwhelmed with the faithfulness and support of my dear friends in family right HERE in my very home. I could think of nothing other than how blessed I am. I was humbled by their prayers for me. Seeing how the Lord, in His goodness has used me to things I didn't even realize was a humbling realization for me. All glory goes to His name.
I know things did not turn out as I've planned, but when I am so tangibly surrounded by His blessing and nearness, how can I complain? To have my family pray over me like that... words cannot describe what that means to be. To be lifted before the throne of grace in intercession and honored with prayers of friends with such strong faith... I am thankful.
And that's just here... not to mention Birmingham. There, I have been blessed beyond words with a church that is fully supporting me- walking every step of this journey with me. Because of their deep commitment, I don't feel alone in this. I was so blessed in Alabama for Andy and Rhonda to take me into their home- t0 learn from and with them and do life with them- with no expectation to pay or give them anything in return. What a picture of the body of Christ meeting every need! And, of course, I am so blessed by the Turners who poured so much into me- their lives, ministry, time, words of wisdom and truth. Yes, I am thankful. The Lord is good, and He is near.
